So as the new year is in full swing... just like last year God has been pressing on me to slow down, as well as work on certain areas of discipline... that may sound simple... but for me slowing down is one of the hardest things to do... I am always on the go, the whole "if you aren't moving forward... you are moving backward." mentality.
What I have realized that forward progress is just that progress, and it isn't about how fast that progress can be made, as much as it is about the quality of the progress that is made and enjoying the journey it leads you on. I realized this while driving around the race track with my daughter Ashlyn this past weekend. We weren't able to go as fast because there were two of us in the little car... but we still had a great time, and when we were done, and continued on to other adventures throughout the day i was very fulfilled having had a great day with my family. If i had been over-concerned with accomplishing all the fun we had set out to do that day, instead of enjoying the time, I know i would have missed out on alot. Or if i would have been concerned with the small amount of work I had to get done later in the day, I would have missed the fun of family, and not given them my full attention.
God has set a path before all of us, for a journey that He intends to lead us on. The beauty is that He desires to be a part of that journey with us. I would encourage you to slow down this year... enjoy the life God has given to you.
Remember that God is not concerned with how fast you get to your destination, He holds time in His hands. He desires our hearts, and that we would be fulfilled in Him, brining Him the glory due His name. Slowing down to see this and embracing it is more pleasing to God than trying to speed around the track just to get done.

so this may be odd and out of the blue...but my wife sarah and I used to live around the corner from you guys in murrieta way back in the day....she went to ccbc around the same time as you and we were both in the "scene" back then. anyways I find it funny that just the other day I was thinking back on those days and you came to mind. Then I run across a wikipedia page on point and through all of that I find this blog. That being said I am extremely happy that things are going good for you and Amanda....and the now two girls....to give you an idea the last time I had actually spoke with you, you had just had the first one........anyways again I am glad that all is well with you guys and I pray that the Lord's blessings will continue to be upon you guys.
